A Road Map For Getting Our Children Out Of The Public Schools
There are thousands and thousands of Christian parents in almost every state that want to pull their children out the public school. However, they do not have the financial ability to place them in a Christian school.
So what is the Body of Christ to do? We cannot allow young children or teens that go to our churches and live in our community to be persuaded to think and do things that contradict the truth of God’s Word. For Christians the Bible is clear that we need to pray and take action to protect our children from the schemes of the evil one designed to steal their mind.
“Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward Slaughter. If you say, “But we knew nothing about this,” does not He who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not He who guards your life know it? Will He not repay everyone according to what they have done?” Proverbs 24: 11 – 12

Below is a five-step plan that is simple and can easily be put in place in most communities. A homeschool co-op or pod doesn’t need to be elaborate, but it does need someone brave enough to step out and shout, “Welcome! Let’s be friends and start a homeschool co-op!” -Taken from (MightyPines.org)
- Connect with the Homeschool Legal Defense Association (HSLDA.org) and find out what the legal requirements are for parents and churches with regard to starting a homeschool co-op or pod in your city, county and state.
- Identify two or three like minded Christian parents that you might be willing to work with to start a one or two day co-op or pod.
- Identify a few churches in your area that have some space in their facility during the week day. Would they allow you to have a homeschool co-op or pod in their church?
- Agree on the type of activities, such a field trips, art projects, story time, etc. and any minimal cost that family would need to pay for supplies and/or church expenses. Also, if all of the families are working from the same curriculum you will need to make that clear to other families that would like to “join” your co-op or pod.
- Lastly, you may want to build a community of caring Christians of more than 12 families and perhaps add a few non-believers. Your concern and love for one another is key to the success of your co-op or pod. (Consider others as more important than yourself. Phil 2: 4)
This is just a brief outline of what is needed to start homeschool Co-ops and Pods. The key to anything like this is getting started.
